Things a person should know in High School
High school is a pivotal point in most people’s lives. Begun while still a child, by its end we are young adults. Several changes take place in the time between. There are critical changes with any opportunities for things to go wrong. Luckily, the guidance of prior graduates can help others along the way. Find out how to avoid the mistakes and blunders others have made with advice from those who have been there and done that.
First and foremost, you must take your education seriously. To be accepted by a college, while your junior high grades will not matter, your high school grades will matter a lot! If academics have not been your strength in the past, figure out what to do to change this and improve accordingly. At the same time, realize that a grade is just that, one grade! Always try your best, but do not get panic over a single score. You will have many assignments over the course of the year, so there will be more than one chance to turn things around.
In the meantime, take the opportunity to look over your mistakes by finding out what you got wrong and why Do not repeat them in the future! View a poor performance as an opportunity to learn and as motivation to try even harder. Do not give up! Remember that you are responsible for every decision you make. As you grow older, you will be making more and more of them on your own!
Choose the right opportunity. It can be tempting to throw caution to the wind and abandon all responsibility, but this will only come back to haunt you. It is simply a matter of time. Always try your hardest in school and do not be foolish or take unnecessary risks. With freedom comes responsibility. You will be held accountable for your actions. You will also be expected to find a way to balance your life. There are so many things you will want to do and only a limited time in which to do them.
Do not underestimate the value of time management or you will quickly be in your own head. Make a schedule and come up with a plan. You must find time for your school work and for your Extracurriculars. You will need to fit in with your family and friend as well. Finally, time must be spent on your own self-care and wellbeing.
